Historic Decision Establishes the First and Only Lens Classification for Migraine-Associated Light Sensitivity
ORLANDO, FL — Tecport Optics extends its warmest congratulations to venture partner Avulux on receiving FDA De Novo authorization. This landmark milestone creates the first and only medical lens classification specifically designed for managing light sensitivity associated with migraines.
According to the Migraine Research Foundation, approximately 12% of the U.S. population suffers from migraines. This regulatory milestone establishes a proven, non-invasive option for doctors and patients seeking targeted relief from light-triggered migraine symptoms.
“We offer special recognition to Avulux Co-Founder and CEO Dr. Chuck Posternack, whose leadership, determination, and steadfast commitment to translating sound science into an effective product have been instrumental in achieving this milestone,” said Tam Le, Founder and Chairman of Tecport Optics and Co-Founder of Avulux. “We at Tecport are also deeply grateful to our Vice Chairman, Dr. Nabil El-Hag, the visionary architect and driving force behind our joint venture aimed at bringing our technology to the U.S. market.”
“The FDA authorization is the culmination of a decade-long journey alongside world-renowned scientists and business leaders,” commented Dr. Nabil El-Hag. “It has been an honor to shepherd this technology through the clinical and business development process. The ability of Avulux optical lenses to provide a safer and non-invasive way to alleviate the symptoms associated with light-sensitive migraines will be a game changer for doctors and patients alike.”
